  8. INTRODUCTION:

  10. This is the a new release of PMsndX.  Extensive online
  11. help is provided from the main control panel.  To read the
  12. help, pull down the system menu in the upper left corner
  13. of the PMsndX control panel and select HELP.  This provides a
  14. description of the form and function.

  44. * If you got the power PC version, the executables will have
  45.   a "p" on the end of the base name (edsndxp.exe and plsndxp.exe).
  46.   The power PC version is always marked with a "p" on the end
  47.   of the base name for the zip file (i.e. pmsx030p.zip).

  49. INSTALLATION PROGRAM:
  50.  
  51. Starting with version 2.00, PMsndX uses minstall.exe to provide
  52. the installation facility.  This program is part of the OS/2
  53. distribution disks and should be present on any system.  To
  54. install, run the script called install.cmd.  If you don't have
  55. MMPM/2 installed on your system, you will need to perform a
  56. manual installation.

  59. MANUAL INSTALLATION:
  60.  
  61. If the installation script does not work on your system,
  62. you may manually install PMsndX on your system with the
  63. following instructions.
  64.  
  65. Installation of PMsndX is very simple.  You must place
  66. the executables in a directory that is referenced in your
  67. PATH statement in your config.sys.  If this is not done,
  68. PMsndX will not be able to play samples from the command
  69. line.  You must then place the help file in a directory
  70. in your HELP path or in the same directory as the
  71. executable program.  That is it.

  73. Look at your config.sys file with an editor like E.EXE
  74. and locate the statement that looks like this:

  76. SET PATH=E:\OS2;E:\OS2\SYSTEM;E:\OS2\INSTALL;E:\;E:\OS2\MDOS;E:\OS2\APPS;

  78. Choose something like \os2\apps and copy the file pmsndx.exe
  79. to that directory.

  81. To install the help file, copy the file pmsndx.hlp to a directory
  82. that is listed in your HELPPATH statement in your config.sys.

  86. WARNING:
  87.  
  88. There is a known problem with PMsndX and MMPM/2 version 3.0.
  89. When running PMsndX under Warp, anything which interrupts the
  90. playback of a sample (such as a system sound or pressing Pause)
  91. will cause both EdSndX and PlSndX to continue with the button
  92. animation to continue to animate even after the audio has completed.
  93. In this revision, you can press the stop button to end animation. To
  94. minimize the effect, I have provided the option to have
  95. PMsndX open the Audio device without sharing (the default).
  96. This problem does not appear to affect PMsndX on previous versions
  97. of OS/2 (i.e. 2.0, 2.1 and 2.11).
